Why buy a domestic battery?

Home batteries, also known as photovoltaic storage batteries, have gained in popularity in recent years. They are even more important today, following the abolition of the backwards-turning meter for photovoltaic panels.

Your domestic battery, sometimes also called a domestic accumulator, stores the green energy you generate with your solar panels. This innovative technology lets you store and use green electricity at your convenience.

This means a significant improvement in the efficiency of your solar panels, which translates into considerable savings on your monthly electricity bill.

By using a home battery, you also reduce your dependence on the conventional electricity grid, which translates into additional savings on the grid charges shown on your electricity bill.

Our intelligent battery systems take care of everything automatically, optimizing the interaction between your solar panels and home battery. They continuously manage the distribution of energy between self-consumption, consumption of electricity from the grid and battery use.

The additional yield you get from your battery will depend on your consumption profile and the home battery model you choose. If you’re thinking of buying a home battery, don ‘t hesitate to contact us!

What type of storage battery should I use?

There are several types of storage batteries, each with its own advantages and disadvantages.

Lead-acid batteries are reliable and inexpensive, but can be heavy and require regular maintenance. Lithium-ion batteries are lighter and more durable, but also more expensive.

Solid-state batteries are even more durable and safer than lithium-ion batteries, but they are also more expensive and less widely available.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to frequently asked questions about energy storage batteries.

  • How long does a storage battery last?

The average service life of a storage battery is between 10 and 15 years, depending on the technology used and the maintenance carried out. Many modern batteries maintain high efficiency throughout this period.

  • Can I add a storage battery to an existing solar system?

Yes, it is entirely possible to add a storage battery to an existing solar system. Our experts at Vectura can evaluate your current system and integrate a storage solution tailored to your needs.

  • What battery capacity should I install?

Battery capacity depends on your energy consumption and the output of your solar panels. Our technicians will help you choose a battery capable of storing enough energy to cover your needs during periods of low production.

  • Are storage batteries eligible for aid or subsidies?

Yes, some regions, such as Wallonia, offer financial aid or bonuses to encourage the installation of storage batteries. These subsidies reduce the initial cost of your investment.

  • Do the storage batteries work during a power cut?

Yes, in the event of a power cut, the storage batteries can power your home’s essential appliances, provided the system is configured for this. This guarantees energy autonomy even in the event of a power failure.

  • What's the difference between a lithium-ion battery and a lead-acid battery?

Lithium-ion batteries are lighter, more efficient and last longer than lead-acid batteries. They are also better suited to modern solar home systems, thanks to their ability to recharge quickly and deliver better long-term performance.

  • Does a storage battery require regular maintenance?

Storage batteries, especially lithium-ion models, require very little maintenance. It is simply recommended to monitor the system via the management tools provided to ensure that the battery is working properly.

How much does a photovoltaic storage battery cost?

What factors influence the cost of a photovoltaic storage battery?

The cost of a photovoltaic battery depends on several factors. Storage capacity is one of the main criteria affecting price. The higher the storage capacity, the more energy the battery can store, and the higher the cost. The manufacturer’s brand, component quality and integrated features can also influence the battery’s price.

What price range?

In general, the cost of a photovoltaic storage battery can vary from a few hundred to several thousand euros. High-quality batteries with high storage capacity can be more expensive, while simpler batteries with lower storage capacity can be more affordable.

Long-term profitability

It’s important to consider value for money when purchasing a photovoltaic battery. Although a higher quality battery may have a higher initial cost, it can offer better performance and a longer lifespan, which can pay off in the long term in terms of energy savings and reduced dependence on the electricity grid.

Choice to suit your needs

At Vectura, we offer a range of high-quality photovoltaic batteries to suit different budgets. Our specialists are here to advise you and help you choose the battery that best suits your needs and your solar installation. Please do not hesitate to contact us detailed information and find out which options are best suited to your project.

How does a photovoltaic storage battery work?

A photovoltaic storage battery works by converting and storing the electrical energy produced by solar panels during periods of high production, usually when the sun is out. Here’s how it works:

1. Capturing solar energy

Visit solar panels capture solar energy and convert it into electricity. When the sun shines, the photovoltaic cells in solar panels absorb the sunlight and generate direct current (DC) electricity.

2. Conversion to alternating current

The direct current produced by the solar panels is then converted into alternating current (AC) by an inverter. Alternating current is the type of electricity used in homes and buildings to power electrical appliances.

3. Battery storage

Once the electricity has been converted into alternating current, it can be used directly to power electrical appliances or charging stations.Excess electricity that is not used immediately goes into the photovoltaic storage battery.

4. Use of stored electricity

When solar-generated electricity is less than the home’s demand, such as at night or on cloudy days, the storage battery is called upon. It then releases the stored electricity to power electrical appliances, enabling the continuous power supply to be maintained using the stored solar energy.
