Charging a Volvo is not free. At home, the charge depends on the price of electricity, averaging €0.30/kWh in Belgium (2025 rates). At a public charging station, rates vary according to operator and charging speed. Installing a charging station at home is generally more economical.

It’s best to charge your vehicle up to 80% for daily use. This protects the battery and optimizes its life. You can recharge to 100% from time to time, before a long journey for example.

What type of socket is used in Volvo vehicles?
In Belgium, all electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles Volvo use a type 2 for charging with alternating current (AC) CHARGING. This standard is compatible with the majority of private and public charging points installed throughout Europe. For fast charging direct current (DC), Volvo models use the CCS socket.
